Our journey began over two decades ago, when we planted our 20-acre vineyard in the renowned Russian River Valley. Since then, we have dedicated ourselves to honing our craft, exploring innovative techniques, and blending traditional methods to create wines that showcase the distinct flavor profiles of our terroir.
Our Winemaking Approach
Our Winemaker, William Knuttel, has over 40 years of experience crafting premium wines. He believes in the importance of experimentation, pushing the boundaries of traditional winemaking techniques to create distinctive and harmonious blends. At Square Peg, we are committed to producing small-batch, estate-grown wines that embody the essence of our region. Our portfolio features a range of wines, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Rose, all of which are available to our Club Members and exclusive experiences.
Our Estate Vineyard
Located in the heart of the Russian River Valley, our Estate Vineyard is nestled in the picturesque town of Occidental. The vineyard's unique terroir is defined by its diverse AVAs, including the Russian River Valley, Green Valley, and Sonoma Coast. Our vines thrive under the influence of the nearby Pacific Ocean, which imparts a crisp, cool climate that perfectly balances the region's Mediterranean warmth.
Dry Farming
At Square Peg, we pride ourselves on being pioneers in the art of dry farming. This natural and sustainable approach allows us to tap into the ancient connection between the vineyard and the earth. By relying solely on rainwater percolated into the soil, we create complex, nuanced wines that showcase the unique characteristics of our terroir. Our dry farming methods reduce our environmental impact, conserve water resources, and showcase the true essence of our vineyard.
