"Improving Communities, Protecting Resources",

Our Mission and History

At BMJ Engineers & Surveyors, Inc., our mission is to serve our clients by providing civil engineering and land surveying services of exceptional quality to achieve the goals of community improvement and responsible use of land and water. Our history dates back to the late 1960s when our founder, Darwin McLeod, worked at the Michigan Department of Agriculture, reviewing consultants' engineering plans for county drain projects. This experience inspired him to start his own engineering consulting firm specializing in agricultural drainage and stormwater drainage. In 1970, McLeod founded BOL-MAC Engineering with John Boldt from the Soil Conservation Service. The company became incorporated in 1971 and relocated to Port Huron, Michigan. Over the years, BMJ has diversified its services to include industrial facility engineering and materials testing, while maintaining its core specialties in civil engineering and surveying.

Services Offered

Our services are designed to cater to a broad client base including government, private developers, and industrial clients. We offer civil engineering services such as the design of roads, sanitary sewers, water mains, and bridges. Additionally, we provide surveying services to ensure accurate measurements and mapping. Our engineers are equipped with advanced technology and training, including AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017, WaterCAD, and SewerCAD, among others. We take pride in working to improve our communities while being environmentally responsible.
