About Us
As a professionally trained photographer, I, Irma Varela, am the face behind the lens and the creator of Peanut Love Photography. I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA, and relocated to the East Bay in 2001. I'm happily married to my best friend and biggest supporter, and together we're raising our amazing son, daughter, 2 fur kids, and living our own version of happily ever after.
My Journey to Photography
For as long as I can remember, I was always the girl with a camera, capturing all sorts of moments and creating memories. I knew I had a passion for photography since I was a teenager, but I never really saw it as my career path. Life took a slightly different turn, and I ended up taking a different path. However, I couldn't be more thankful, as it led me to where I am today, doing what I love and creating beautiful memories for my clients that will last a lifetime.
Why Peanut Love Photography?
As a newborn photographer myself, I've always felt a sense of nostalgia and longing for photos of myself as a baby or young child. Unfortunately, I lost my home and belongings at the age of 8, and as a result, I have no memories of that period in my life. That's why creating meaningful memories for my clients is so important to me. I want to ensure that the images I capture for my clients are not only beautiful but also meaningful and treasured.
My Journey to Newborn Photography
In September 2016, I stumbled upon newborn photography on social media, and after scrolling through multiple images, I was hooked! After spending the prior two years capturing various types of images, I finally found my niche in newborn photography. I attended my first in-person newborn photography workshop in February 2017 and realized that newborn safety and training were my top priority.
Training and Safety
While my goal is to capture beautiful and timeless images for my clients, safety is my ultimate priority during all photo sessions. I take newborn safety very seriously and have spent the last three years attending newborn safety workshops, completing online trainings, and assisting another newborn photographer to gain hands-on experience.
