WHERE KARATE IS A WAY OF LIFE!

Welcome to the Kosho School of Karate, a division of Pine Tree Group LLC, owned and operated by David Hamann, Robert Volz, and Nate England. Our school is dedicated to teaching traditional Japanese and Okinawan martial arts, with a focus on personal growth, self-improvement, and community building.

Our History

The Kosho School of Karate was founded in 1973 by Sensei Michael Awad, a 9th-degree black belt and world karate champion. Awad began his martial arts training in Cincinnati under Victor Moore, then studied under karate legend James McLain, and Master Phillip Koeppel, before becoming a senior student of Grandmaster Robert Trias. In 1983, the school was relocated to its current location at 2121 Beechmont Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio.
