At Baltimore Aikido, we are a Not For Profit School dedicated to the practice of Japanese martial arts. Our mission is to provide a community-based approach to martial arts training, emphasizing personal growth and self-awareness. We offer a range of classes and seminars in Aikido, Jodo, and Iaido, providing a comprehensive introduction to traditional Japanese martial arts.

Aikido: A Path of Harmony

Aikido is a modern martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969), a Japanese martial artist and spiritual leader. Aikido is a form of functional training that improves mind-body coordination, promoting a sense of balance and harmony within oneself and with others. Our classes focus on the development of strong body posture, smooth and effortless movement, and a calm and focused mind.

Jodo: The Traditional Japanese Policing Art

Jodo is a traditional Japanese policing art that focuses on the use of a four-foot-long staff. This ancient martial art is designed to be a peaceful and effective means of self-defense, utilizing the staff to redirect and neutralize an opponent's energy.

Iaido: The Art of Drawing the Sword

Iaido is a traditional Japanese martial art that focuses on the art of drawing and cutting with the Japanese sword. Our classes emphasize the development of strong body posture, smooth and effortless movement, and a calm and focused mind. This martial art is designed to develop the student's inner peace, focus, and overall well-being.

Who We Are

Baltimore Aikido is headed by Charlie Page sensei, 7th dan, and Chuck Weber sensei, 7th dan. We are a member dojo of the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (ASU), under the leadership of Mitsugi Saotome shihan, long-time student of the founder of aikido, Morihei Ueshiba ("O-Sensei"). Our senseis are committed to teaching traditional Japanese martial arts, emphasizing the development of strong body posture, smooth and effortless movement, and a calm and focused mind.

If you are new to martial arts or interested in learning more about Aikido, Jodo, or Iaido, we invite you to join us for a trial class. Our instructors will guide you through a comprehensive introduction to traditional Japanese martial arts, emphasizing personal growth and self-awareness. Our classes are designed to accommodate students of all levels, from beginners to experienced martial artists.
