You Have a Future Worth Fighting For
Welcome to my practice, where I work with adolescents and their families to help navigate the challenges of adolescence. As a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience, I have had the privilege of working with youth in various settings, including residential treatment, a police-operated crisis center, and community mental health centers. Throughout my career, I have developed a specialization in working with teenagers and their families to address the unique struggles they face during this critical period of growth and development.
About Me
As a licensed clinical social worker, I have always been drawn to working with adolescents. My early experiences included volunteering at a drop-in counseling center at a local high school and working as a job coach at a Boys and Girls Club. This led me to pursue my Master's in Social Work from the University of California, Berkeley in 1987. Since then, I have dedicated my career to working with youth, focusing primarily on teenagers.
As a therapist, I believe in the importance of collaboration with parents and caregivers. I work closely with them to understand their child's needs and goals, and to develop a plan that is tailored to their unique situation. My approach is direct and honest, with an emphasis on accountability and personal responsibility. I find that this approach resonates with teenagers, who appreciate being told the truth and being encouraged to take ownership of their actions.
Adolescent/Family Therapy
My approach to adolescent/family therapy is centered around the idea that teenagers need to be able to tell their story, while also allowing parents to share theirs. I believe that by facilitating a reconciliation of their narratives, I can help families work together more effectively to achieve their shared goals. Whether struggling with issues such as rebellion, defiance, anxiety, depression, or relationship struggles, I am committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for families to work through their challenges.
