Who We Are
At Mi Mundo Preschool, we believe that every child is unique and deserves a nurturing environment that fosters their growth and development. Our school is designed for children as young as two and a half through five years old, and our curriculum emphasizes culture, geography, family, science, and play. We strongly believe that preschool is the best time to spark creative energy and positive interest in children's introduction to schooling.
Our Program
Our program is based on the principles of play-based learning, where children are encouraged to explore and discover at their own pace. We provide hands-on classrooms where they can express and simultaneously develop their cognitive, social, and motor skills. Our teachers serve as facilitators or co-learners, guiding children in their exploration and creativity.
We believe in the importance of exposing children to different cultures and languages. Our Spanish-speaking teachers and curriculum provide a unique opportunity for children to learn and develop their language skills in a fun and interactive way. We also emphasize empathy and acceptance, recognizing the value of diversity and inclusivity.
Our Classrooms
We have two classrooms at Mi Mundo, one for our young class, late two-year-olds to late three-year-olds, and the other for our older class, late three-year-olds to five years old. Both classes have a different schedule, but the same program. Our classrooms are designed to be engaging and interactive, with sensory tables, building materials, and manipulatives to promote learning and exploration.
A Day at Mi Mundo
Our daily schedule is carefully planned to ensure a balance of activities that cater to different learning styles and needs. Our day starts with drop-off and sensory play, followed by our morning program, which includes art, science projects, and Spanish circle time. We also have outdoor playtime, snack time, lunch, naptime, and quiet time. Our afternoon session includes outdoor play, group time, and art projects. We believe in open communication and update families daily through our Brightwheel app, providing photos and updates about their child's day.
Our Locations
We have two locations in El Cerrito and Berkeley, providing families with flexible scheduling options. Our El Cerrito location opened in September 2018 and has since become a popular choice for families in the area. We are proud to offer a unique and engaging preschool experience that sets us apart from others.
Our Art Gallery
At Mi Mundo Preschool, we believe in the importance of art and creativity in childhood development. Our art gallery showcases the incredible artwork created by our students, showcasing their imagination and creativity. We encourage our students to express themselves through various artistic mediums, providing them with the tools to develop their creative expression.
Travel to Colombia
At Mi Mundo Preschool, we are passionate about cultural exchange and immersion. Our team regularly travels to Colombia, immersing themselves in the local culture and bringing back knowledge and inspiration to share with our students. This experience allows us to incorporate authentic and relevant cultural experiences into our curriculum.
