Empowering Black people to take control of their mental health
A Vision for Equity and Healing in the Black Community
Black Minds Matter Alliance (BMHA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the Black community in addressing mental health challenges and promoting well-being. We aim to create an equitable and compassionate society where every individual has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Our Mission
Our mission is to:
- Develop, promote, and sponsor trusted culturally-relevant educational forums, trainings, and referral services that support the health and well-being of Black people and their communities.
- Cultivate an equitable and respectful society that celebrates diversity and fosters mental wellness.
The Need for Culturally-Relevant Support
Within the Black community, unique experiences and historical trauma necessitate culturally-informed mental health interventions. BMHA prioritizes understanding the impact of historical and systemic factors on mental health disparities. We advocate for holistic approaches that address the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of well-being.
