Invisible Orthodontics in the News

In July 2019, the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) released a press release raising "serious concerns" about direct-to-consumer orthodontics, citing close to 1,000 customer complaints against SmileDirectClub, LLC, and others, to the Better Business Bureau. The AAO goes on to state that "orthodontic aligners are meant to move teeth, which if not done correctly can lead to potentially irreversible and expensive damage such as tooth and gum loss, changed bites, and other issues - some of which may not arise immediately."

Unlike direct-to-consumer aligner services, Dr. Hunter offers semi-invisible clear aligner therapy using aligners that are custom-made from our intraoral scanner image of your teeth, and - most importantly - that is directed by an experienced orthodontist who will ensure your aligners fit properly. In addition, Dr. Hunter provides regular monitoring to ensure optimal results and prevent potentially irreversible damage.

Dr. Mark S. Hunter, D.M.D., received his predental education from the University of Detroit (1985). He graduated in the top five of his dental school class with a D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (1989) and received his orthodontic specialty certificate from the Loyola University of Chicago School of Dentistry (1991). As a specialist in Lingual Braces since 2005, Dr. Hunter regularly attends workshops on the advancement of lingual orthodontics to ensure that he stays up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies.
