Nurturing Young Minds, Inspired by Learning
Diablo Valley Montessori School (DVMS) is a non-profit, non-discriminatory organization that has been serving the community since 1965. Our mission is to provide the highest quality Montessori education for all children enrolled by supporting the development of a professional, skilled and nurturing staff and encouraging the involvement and participation of its families. We are proud to have received the highest accolades from the American Montessori Society ("AMS") for our excellence in teaching staff, parent participation, and emphasis on maintaining that excellence.
Our Philosophy
At DVMS, we believe that each child is a unique individual who deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. Our philosophy is based on the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori, who believed that education should be an aid to life. We strive to create an environment that is prepared to meet the needs and interests of each child, and we empower our students to become independent, confident, and responsible learners.
Our Administrative Staff
Our administrative staff is a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing the highest level of education and care for each child enrolled in our programs. We have a low student-to-teacher ratio, which allows us to provide individualized attention to each child and build strong relationships with our families.
Our Infant-Toddler Teachers
Our infant-toddler teachers are specially trained to work with young children, and they provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. We offer two classes for infants and toddlers: the Sunflower Class (3 months to 18 months) and the Poppy Class (18 months to 2.5 years).
Our Preschool-Kindergarten Teachers
Our preschool-kindergarten teachers are experienced and certified Montessori teachers who provide a rich and diverse curriculum that includes language, math, science, geography, history, art, music, and practical life skills. We offer six classes for preschool and kindergarten students: the Lavender Class (2 years to 3.5 years), the Honeysuckle Class (2 years to 3.5 years), the Daisy Class (2 years to 3.5 years), the Jasmin Class (2 years to 3.5 years), the Petunia Class (2 years to 3.5 years), and the Cosmos Class (2 years to 3.5 years).
Our Programs
We offer a variety of programs that meet the needs and interests of our students and their families. Our Infant-Toddler House provides care and education for infants and toddlers, and our Pre-School and Kindergarten programs offer a rich and diverse curriculum that promotes academic, social, and emotional development. We also offer Summer Programs, After School Programs, and Kindergarten Enrichment programs that provide additional opportunities for learning and growth.
At DVMS, we are committed to providing the highest quality Montessori education for all children enrolled in our programs. We believe that education is a partnership between home and school, and we encourage parent involvement and participation in our programs. We welcome families from all backgrounds and cultures, and we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive community for all.
