At National Karate, we pride ourselves on being a family-oriented martial arts school that has been a part of the OKC community for over 47 years. Founded in 1974 by Grandmaster Jim Butin, our school has a rich history of providing top-level instruction to the community we love.
Our Story
National Karate was founded by Grandmaster Jim Butin, a world champion in bare-knuckle karate. Before starting his school, Mr. Butin taught thousands of people in our community and had a huge impact on the lives of many students. In 2018, two of Mr. Butin's own black belts, Phillip Rosier and David Steece, took over ownership of the school. Phillip and David started taking classes at National Karate at the age of 6 and both received their black belt at a young age. They have competed across the nation and won several national championships.
