Where tradition meets innovation

Ben Owen Pottery is a renowned pottery studio and gallery located in Seagrove, North Carolina, a region famous for its pottery traditions. Our studio is home to Ben Owen III, a highly skilled potter who carries on the legacy of his grandfather, Ben Owen Sr., and great-grandfather, M.L. Owen. These early settlers were English potters who brought their craft to North Carolina in the late 1700s, providing storage jars and other utilitarian wares to the local community.

Today, Ben Owen III is known for his distinctive style that combines traditional designs with Asian influences. Our gallery features a wide range of his work, from functional pieces like vases, mugs, and bowls to decorative sculptures and monumental installations. We invite you to visit our retail store in person or explore our online store to find the perfect piece of Ben Owen Pottery for your collection.

The Showroom

Our showroom is a must-visit destination for pottery enthusiasts and collectors. It is filled with a diverse selection of Ben Owen III's pottery, and we regularly add new works after every kiln opening. Our knowledgeable showroom manager, Elizabeth McAdams, is always available to help you find the perfect piece or provide information about our pottery and processes.

In addition to our current showroom, we have transformed our older showroom into a museum that showcases the work of our family across generations. Here, you can see the evolution of our pottery and learn about the history and techniques that have been passed down through the Owen family.

Commissioned Pottery by Ben Owen III

Ben Owen III has worked on numerous commissioned projects for hotels, public spaces, and private collectors. Some of his notable public installations include custom bottle designs for the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina, and large ceramic vases for the Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, North Carolina. He has also created custom pieces for private collectors, such as vases for legendary singer-songwriter James Taylor and the Governor of Hunan Province.

Ben Owen III works closely with each client to create a custom piece that meets their specific needs and preferences. Whether it's a large-scale installation for a hotel lobby or a personalized vase for a private collection, Ben Owen III brings his mastery of pottery and attention to detail to every project.
