Our Story
At Wild Heart Meditation Center, we are committed to making the teachings and practices of the Buddha available to all who are interested. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we are rooted in early Buddhist teachings and strive to create communities and support individuals who are interested in integrating the Buddha's teachings into their everyday lives.
Our Team
Our team of dedicated teachers, facilitators, and staff work together to create a welcoming and supportive environment for our community. Our team members come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to their work. Whether it's guiding meditation sessions, facilitating workshops, or providing administrative support, each team member is passionate about sharing the Dharma and supporting individuals on their own spiritual journeys.
Meet Our Team Members
- Rev. Mikey Noechel, MS is our Guiding Teacher and Co-Director. As a certified Dharmacharya, Mikey has received authorization to teach in both Theravada and Mahayana Buddhist traditions. He holds a master's degree in Counseling Psychology and has been trained to facilitate meditation groups.
- Kit Canlas is our Co-Director and a proud queer identifying first generation Filipinx American. Kit has a background in non-profit management and has worked as a burlesque performer, using body positivity as an embodied practice of activism and storytelling.
- Andrew Chapman, LMSW is one of our Teacher's Counsel. Andrew has a background in Western and Buddhist psychology and has developed trainings for dedicated practitioners and professionals in the fields of education and mental health.
- Rachael Tanner-Smith, LPC-MHSP, PMHNP-BC is our Teacher's Counsel and a long-time dedicated practitioner. Her teaching integrates Buddhist wisdom and Western psychology, with an emphasis on extending practice off the cushion.
