Promoting Cycling for a Sustainable Future
The San Francisco Bike Hut is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting cycling through youth training and providing affordable bike rental, repairs, and sales. We are located at Pier 40, near Oracle Ballpark (home of the Giants), at Townsend on the Embarcadero. We offer a wide range of services, including bike rentals, repairs, sales, and youth training programs.
Bike Rentals
We offer a variety of bikes for rent, including hybrid, mountain, road, tandem, touring, cruiser, single-speed/fixie, tag-a-long, kids' bikes, and others. Our rental rates are very reasonable, with adult hybrid and mountain bikes going for $7.00 per hour or $26 per day, adult road, touring, and fat-tire bikes for $8.00 per hour or $32 per day, tandems for $10 per hour or $40 per day, and kids' bikes for $3.50 per hour. We also offer significant discounts on multi-day and long-term rentals. All of our rental bikes come with locks and helmets.
Bike Repairs
Our experienced mechanics can handle any bike repair job, from simple tune-ups to major overhauls. We believe in repairing bikes, not just trying to sell you new parts. We also offer a unique learning opportunity for our youth trainees, who work alongside our mechanics to learn the ins and outs of bike repair.
Bike Sales
We have a wide variety of used bikes for sale, all of which come with free service for 60 days. We have a constantly changing selection of mountain, hybrid, and road bikes, as well as long-term rental options. We also offer new parts and accessories at reasonable prices, including locks, lights, gloves, saddles, bells, tires, tubes, pedals, and helmets.
Youth Training
Our youth training program is a core part of our mission. We offer hands-on training in bike repair and maintenance to young people from low-income communities. Our trainees work alongside our experienced mechanics to learn the skills they need to build and repair bikes, while earning a stipend and gaining valuable work experience.
Donations
We rely on donations to support our youth training programs and ongoing operations. If you have bicycles or bike-related items to donate, please call us, and we can arrange a time for pick-up or drop-off. Monetary donations can be made via PayPal to TheBikeHut@gmail.com.
