At Wm. J. Mills & Company, we are proud to be America's oldest sailmaker, with a rich history dating back to 1880. Our story began when our founder, William J. Mills, settled in Greenport, NY, on the North Fork of Long Island. He recognized the need for high-quality canvas products, which led to the diversification of our services beyond sailmaking. Today, we remain a family business, owned and operated by the sixth generation of master sailmakers within the Mills family.

Our commitment to excellence is reflected in the wide range of services we offer. We specialize in creating custom awnings, canvas products for homes and businesses, and marine canvas products. Our expertise extends to sail and rigging maintenance, fabrication available upon request. We also design and manufacture world-renowned canvas bags, each handcrafted in our shop in Greenport, NY. These bags are built to last, featuring the same rugged fabric and stitching used in our marine products and awnings.

For instance, Claudio's Restaurant & Marina, the oldest same-family-owned and operated restaurant in the United States, has relied on us for their awning and canvas needs.
