Learn. Believe. Grow. Achieve.
West Lutheran High School is a private, Lutheran high school committed to providing a comprehensive education infused with faith and values. Established in 1979, our school has a rich history of serving students and families in the Twin Cities area. Located in Plymouth, Minnesota, our campus sprawls across 6 acres, conveniently situated near interstate 494 and highway 55.
Mission and Philosophy
At West Lutheran High School, our mission is to empower students to learn academic and life skills, believe God's Word, grow in Christian character, and achieve personal excellence. We believe that God has given parents the primary responsibility for their children's spiritual, mental, emotional, and social growth. Our school was established to assist parents in fulfilling this role by providing a program of unified Christian training for youth.
Academic Excellence
Our academic programs cater to students at all learning levels, offering a wide range of courses to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in higher education, the workforce, or full-time ministry. We strive for academic excellence, recognizing its importance in training students to be life-long learners, effective witnesses for Christ, and faithful stewards of the gifts God has given them.
Accreditation
West Lutheran High School has been accredited by the Minnesota Non-public School Accrediting Association (MNSAA) since 2000. This accreditation ensures that our school meets rigorous standards of excellence in academics, governance, and resources.
Daily Life at West Lutheran
Our daily routine is filled with opportunities for spiritual growth, academic rigor, and extracurricular activities. Students participate in daily religion classes, chapel, and homeroom devotions, which provide a deeper understanding of God's Word and its application to everyday life. Outside of the classroom, students engage in sports, music, and arts programs, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
West Lutheran Today
Today, West Lutheran High School continues to serve students and families from across the Twin Cities. Our school remains committed to its founding mission of providing a comprehensive education grounded in Christian values and values.
Academics and Extracurricular Activities
The school's focus on academics has been called into question by some students. One reviewer, Nennex, noted that the school's emphasis on extracurricular activities, such as the drama program, overshadows the importance of academic achievement. According to Nennex, the drama teacher's statement that "the play is first, before academics" is an example of the school's misguided priorities. This raises concerns about the school's commitment to preparing students for college and future success.
Faith and Community
On the other hand, WLHS has been praised for its strong spiritual foundation and community. Ben Wiechmann, a satisfied reviewer, highlighted the school's commitment to teaching the Word of God and the positive impact this has on the students. He noted that the sanctified lives of the students are a direct result of their love and gratitude for their Savior. This supportive and values-driven environment is seen as a major advantage of attending WLHS.
