The Missouri Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) is a non-profit professional medical society dedicated to optimizing the health of patients, families, and communities of Missouri through patient care, advocacy, education, and research. With over 2,400 physicians, residents, and medical students across the state, we are committed to supporting family physicians in providing high-quality care to their patients.

Our mission is to optimize the health of the patients, families, and communities of Missouri by supporting family physicians in providing patient care, advocacy, education, and research. We strive to be recognized as the leading medical specialty organization for our patients and our members.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services to our members, including continuing medical education (CME) opportunities, advocacy on legislative and regulatory issues, and member benefits such as access to exclusive publications and events. Our Annual Fall Conference and Transition to Practice Conference provide valuable networking and educational opportunities for family physicians. We also offer virtual CME series and exhibitor and sponsor opportunities for organizations interested in reaching our members.

In addition, we provide resources and support for residents and medical students, including a Member Assistance Program and Pediatric Mental Health resources. Our show-me-state update and Missouri FP Magazine keep our members informed about the latest news and trends in family medicine.

Our History

Founded in 1947, MAFP was the first chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Today, AAFP represents 134,600 physicians and medical students nationwide. We are proud of our history and our commitment to optimizing the health of the patients, families, and communities of Missouri.
