At Mr. Michael Recycles Bicycles (MMRB), we are a private company dedicated to giving away bicycles to those in need. Founded by Michael and Benita Warns, our mission is to provide a platform where discarded bicycles are given a second life, and people from all walks of life can access a means of transportation.
Our Story
MMRB was born out of a desire to make a difference in the community. We recognized that many people struggled to access basic needs, including transportation. Our founders, Michael and Benita Warns, decided to take action and create a business that not only recycled bicycles but also gave them away to those who needed them the most.
Our Services
At MMRB, we offer a wide range of services that cater to the cycling community. Our main focus is on giving away bicycles to those in need. To achieve this, we gather discarded bicycles, repair them, and then distribute them to those who require them. We also offer repair services at an affordable rate, with a labor charge of $28 per hour plus parts. Additionally, we sell a variety of used parts and accessories, as well as used bicycles.
How We Operate
MMRB operates on a break-even basis, meaning that 90% of the money we receive from our sales and services goes towards the expenses of the shop. The remaining 10% is donated to charity. All labor is provided by volunteers, and we do not take a salary from this business. This allows us to maintain our mission of giving away bicycles while keeping our costs down.
Getting a Bicycle
To get a bicycle from MMRB, you can join our waitlist, which is currently open. To be added to the list, simply call us at 651-641-1037 and leave a voice mail message with your first and last name, your height, and a reliable phone number where we can reach you when your bicycle is ready.
Donations
We accept bicycle donations from individuals by appointment only. Please note that we are not accepting donations during the winter months. Check back in April 2024 for our next donation period.
Our Shop
Our shop is located in St. Paul, MN, and we are open by appointment only. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please schedule an appointment to view bikes for sale or for repair services. Masks are required whenever you are inside the shop.
