The Langston Hughes Playwright's Workshop

Main-Stage Productions

Bushfire Theatre of Performing Arts has a rich history dating back to 1977. Our journey began with a small group of dedicated artists who shared a vision of establishing a professional African-American theatre company. In 1983, we established the 52nd Street Writer's Workshop, which later evolved into the Langston Hughes Playwright's Workshop. Our commitment to developing African-American playwrights has resulted in many world premieres and critically acclaimed productions.
