Learning through Play, Growing with Joy

Judson Preschool is a play-based early childhood program committed to bringing together children and early childhood educators in an environment that fosters self-growth through socialization and spontaneous learning. We pride ourselves on reflecting the plurality of our community, and our top priority is to create a positive environment where children develop friendships and confidence. We prioritize social-emotional learning and self-advocacy and emphasize PLAY as the most important vehicle for learning.

Our program offers a wide range of activities that are carefully planned by professionally trained early childhood educators. We provide children with opportunities to experience their environment through experimentation in the arts, dramatic play, large and fine motor activities, science experiments, creative movement, cooking, and music. At Judson, our preschoolers develop skills in language, literacy, music, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Their interests guide them to develop a true love of learning.

Curriculum

Our child-centered curriculum promotes learning, discovery, confidence building, and JOY! We know that play is the best way for children to learn and develop critical life skills. Our school welcomes everyone. Our curriculum includes various activities designed to spark curiosity, build skills, and support interest. During Discovery Time, children are empowered to choose from a wide variety of activities designed to spark their curiosity, build skills, and support interest.

During Small Group, children are introduced to more teacher-directed activities with groups small enough to encourage each child to participate. We support children as they learn to speak and listen, to take turns, and to cooperate while learning new concepts. Large Group introduces children to full-class participation time like they will experience in school. They engage in developmentally appropriate songs and activities and listen to a story. This is a fun, interactive part of our day.

Snack Time provides children with real-life opportunities to count napkins and cups, pour their own water, and participate in making the food. Snack time promotes independence, socialization, confidence, responsibility, and helps children recognize they are an important part of their group. Large Muscle Play allows children to move and choose activities that will continue to develop muscles, improve balance, and promote physical confidence. These activities also give children the opportunity to develop friendships and stimulate language.

Staff

Our dedicated, caring, highly-qualified staff make Judson truly unique. Each day's activities are planned and implemented with a wealth of knowledge about child development and experience. Our staff to child ratio is 1:7, and all three of our classrooms are staffed by one licensed lead teacher and trained assistant teachers.
