Our Story
The Avenue Inn & Spa is a historic property located in the heart of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. With a rich history dating back to 1937, our hotel has been a landmark in the area for over 80 years. Our story began with Big George Shockley, a real estate developer and land speculator who had a vision to create a welcoming space for families, couples, and friends to gather and enjoy quality time together. Over the years, our family-run business has been under the guidance of four generations of owners, each leaving their mark on our iconic hotel.

In its heyday, the restaurant was the place to be in Rehoboth Beach, with long wait times and hundreds of meals served daily.
