The Pittsburgh Golf Club was created by some of Pittsburgh's leading citizens living in the East End for their own pleasure and for the pleasure of their families and friends. They wanted a "place like home" with manners, language and decor that made them feel "at home". The club has been restored, remodeled and redecorated many times in the past century, but the tradition and history of the club remain. Andrew Mellon, Henry Clay Frick and Philander C. Knox were among the club's early members.
