Serving God, Serving Others, and Serving Our Community
Welcome to Zion Lutheran Church and Preschool, a community of believers gathered around God's Word and Sacraments, sharing the story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the salvation of the world. We have been serving the Hillsboro community for over a century and look forward to the opportunity to serve you as well. As a member congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), we are committed to spreading the message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
Our Beliefs
As Lutheran Christians, we believe in the triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin Mary, is true God and true man at one and the same time. We believe that Jesus came to fulfill God's law's demands by living a perfect life in our stead and to pay for the wages of our sin with His suffering, death, and mighty resurrection. We believe that all people can have forgiveness, life, and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior.
Worship at Zion
At Zion, we believe that corporate worship is an essential part of our faith journey. Our worship services are centered around reading and preaching from the Word of God, singing hymns and psalms, and celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion. We believe that Jesus is truly present in, with, and under the earthly forms of bread and wine. The True Body and True Blood of Christ are given and shed for us for the forgiveness of sins.
Education at Zion
We are committed to providing a comprehensive education program that provides opportunities for spiritual growth and development for all ages. Our Sunday School program, open to children from preschool to high school age, aims to teach biblical principles and values. Our adults can participate in Bible studies, small groups, and other spiritual renewal programs.
Music and Arts
Music is an integral part of our worship life at Zion. Our adult choir, comprised of 12-15 singers, provides musical leadership during worship services. We also have a handbell group and occasional musical offerings from our Sunday School group. Our Rodgers Model 940 organ, installed in 1994, provides a rich and varied sound accompaniment to our worship.
Coffee Hour and Fellowship
Following worship, we welcome all to join us for coffee and refreshments. This is an excellent opportunity to catch up with friends and make new ones. We also offer open tables during special events and celebrations.
Giving and Serving
As a response to God's grace, love, and forgiveness, we believe that we are called to join together in regular worship and to give of ourselves in loving service to God by loving and serving our fellow man and sharing of our bounty through tithing and helping those who are in any kind of need.
