Protecting the Environment Since 1980

At Far West Recycling, our commitment to protecting the environment and promoting sustainability is at the heart of our mission. Since our founding in January 1980, we have been dedicated to providing innovative recycling solutions that make a positive impact on our community.

Our History

Our journey began when Tom Lindbloom, president of Conifer Douglas Logging in Roseburg, Oregon, and Ron Frashour, former plant manager for Independent Paper Stock, came together to form Far West Recycling. Our first facility was established in Beaverton, and we quickly gained momentum by selling a combined 100 tons of Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) to Willamette Industries, Albany, and Old Newsprint (ONP) to Publishers Paper in Oregon City. Over the years, we have expanded our operations, acquiring new facilities, and forming partnerships with other recycling companies.

Our Services

At Far West Recycling, we offer a wide range of recycling services to meet the diverse needs of our community. Our services include:

  • Paper Recycling: We accept cardboard, scrap paper, magazines, office paper, as well as asceptic and books.
  • Plastic Recycling: We accept #1 and #2 bottles.
  • Metal Recycling: We accept tin cans, copper, aluminum, and steel.
  • Electronics Recycling: We accept computers, monitors, printers, laptops, TVs, and more.
  • Glass Recycling: We follow a 4-step process that includes crushing, cleaning, separating, and making new glass.

Our Commitment

Our commitment to sustainability is evident in our mission to operate the company in a way that actively recognizes the central role that business plays in the structure of society. We strive to improve the quality of life for our employees and their families, while supporting the communities in which we live.

Industry Associations

We are proud members of various industry associations, including the Portland Metro recycling information, and we are committed to staying up-to-date with the latest developments in recycling technology and practices.

Our Certifications

We are proud to be the first Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) to achieve the First to Achieve RIOS Certification. This certification recognizes our commitment to excellence in recycling and waste management.

Community Involvement

Our commitment to the community extends beyond our recycling services. We are proud to support organizations like the United Way, Young Audiences, and Lewis And Clark College, and to partner with local businesses and community groups to make a positive impact in our community.

Whether you're an individual looking to recycle more sustainably, a business seeking to reduce your environmental footprint, or a community organization looking to make a positive impact, we invite you to join us on our journey towards a more sustainable future.
