Deepen the understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture
The New York Chinese Cultural Center (NYCCC) is a non-profit cultural and educational institution dedicated to deepening the understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture in the global and local communities. Founded in 1974, NYCCC has been committed to providing a platform for cultural exchange, education, and artistic expression. Our mission is to nurture creative and innovative new works through artist residency programs that reflect the rich cultural heritages and diverse communities of today.
Our Programs
At the core of our mission is the School of the Arts, which offers a comprehensive curriculum of Chinese dance, martial arts, Beijing opera acrobatics and weaponry, Chinese language, ink brush painting, and paper cutting for students of all ages. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, we have a class that is right for you. Our classes are grouped according to age and skill level, ensuring that you receive personalized instruction and attention.
Arts in Education
Our Arts in Education program is designed to provide professional dancers from Dance China NY with a vibrant and engaging assembly program that showcases Chinese culture and arts. Our assemble programs are specifically designed for schools and cultural institutions, providing students with an interactive and educational experience that fosters cultural understanding and appreciation.
Cultural Engagements
In addition to our academic programs, NYCCC is committed to cultural engagements that celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our community. We believe that cultural exchange is essential in breaking down barriers and building bridges between communities. Our cultural engagements include performances, festivals, and workshops that promote cross-cultural understanding and celebrate the diversity of our global and local communities.
History and Governance
NYCCC is governed by a Board of Directors, whose members are dedicated professionals and community leaders who share our mission and values. Our Board is led by Co-Presidents Arnold Chu and Jackie Quan, and our Executive Director is Ying Yen. Our organization is supported by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the city council, as well as the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Howard Gilman Foundation.
