Solar Kauai has been dedicated to providing our island with the highest quality solar service since 1979. We were the very first solar company on the Garden Isle and have since become experts in solar power and water heating systems. With close to 40 years of operation and over 8,000 solar systems installed, our expertise and experience speak for themselves.

Our History

Our journey began with the vision of our founder, Paul Lucas, who received his AeroSpace Engineering degree in 1969 from the University of Pittsburgh. He worked as an engineer for Bechtel Engineering Company before shifting his focus to alternative and sustainable energy. Paul became an engineer for one of the first solar companies in the United States and later founded his own company in 1980 in San Francisco. After recognizing the potential of Hawaii's climate for solar technologies, Paul obtained his Hawaii Contracting License and started operations in 1982. He even helped design the code specifications for the installation of Solar Water Heating Systems and Power Systems at the request of local officials.
