Achieving Victory Over Mental Illness

Mental Health America of West Central Indiana is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing vital resources to the Wabash Valley (Vigo, Clay, Sullivan, Parke, Putnam, & Vermillion Counties). We advocate, educate, and serve, providing a comprehensive range of services to support individuals in their mental health journey. Our forward-looking funders, committed leadership, and well-trained, compassionate staff are focused on the needs of the community, vested in growth, and committed to engaging community members while maintaining core agency values and providing services that are trauma-informed and culturally competent.

Our Services

At Mental Health America of West Central Indiana, we offer a range of services designed to support individuals in achieving victory over mental illness. Our housing programs provide a safe and supportive living environment, with access to essential services. We also offer education and programs to help correct and prevent substance abuse in our youth, empowering them to make positive choices in their lives. Additionally, we provide treatment assistance, including medication cost assistance, to low-income, uninsured adults and children.

Our vision is to connect the community with mental health resources, providing services that improve quality of life, and promoting effective services for mental health needs. Our mission is to enhance the mental health of the community and improve the quality of life of persons with mental illness through prevention, advocacy, education, and services.

Our History

Mental Health America of West Central Indiana traces its roots to a caring group of citizens who formed the Mental Hygiene Society as an outgrowth of the Vigo County Welfare Office in 1930. Over the years, we have evolved, growing and adapting to meet the changing needs of our community. Today, we are proud to be a leading provider of mental health services in the Wabash Valley.
