At Equestrian Zone, we are dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with special needs and disabilities through the use of safe and enjoyable adaptive, equine-assisted activities. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we provide a variety of services aimed at fostering functional independence, self-confidence, and improved skills of daily living.

Our mission is rooted in the belief that the bond between humans and horses can be incredibly therapeutic and transformative. We have seen firsthand how the gentle movements of a horse can mimic the human gait, leading to improvements in posture, balance, muscle control, and sensory motor skills. Furthermore, the emotional connection that forms between horse and rider can lead to enhanced self-awareness, self-discipline, and concentration.

Our Services

We offer a range of services designed to meet the unique needs of our participants. Our Adaptive Riding program focuses on developing riding skills, while our Hippotherapy program utilizes the movement of the horse as a tool for physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Adaptive Riding is a term that encompasses a variety of equine activities in which people with disabilities participate. The emphasis is on riding skills development. Participants come to Equestrian Zone for its unique programs, its experienced staff, its convenient location, and its clean, accessible facility. Rider, and their parents and doctors, are pleased with the benefits gained through participation at Equestrian Zone.

Hippotherapy is a physical, occupational, and speech therapy treatment strategy that utilizes equine movement. It is used as part of an integrated treatment program to achieve functional outcomes. As an accredited facility, we adhere to the highest standards set by the American Hippotherapy Association.

Volunteers

As a nonprofit organization, we rely heavily on the generosity of caring individuals and service groups. Opportunities for volunteering vary from assisting with horses and riders, to odd jobs or data entry, to helping with special events and fundraising activities. We believe that willing hands and a warm heart are all that's needed to make a huge and lasting impact on the lives of people with disabilities.

If you are looking to help out in the River Valley community, we encourage you to take a moment and download the necessary forms to become a volunteer with Equestrian Zone. You can then either email the forms, mail the forms, or bring them by. It is that simple. And we would love to have you.

Our Horses

At Equestrian Zone, we are fortunate to have a stable of beautiful and well-trained horses. Each horse has been carefully selected for its calm demeanor, gentle disposition, and ability to provide a smooth ride. Our horses are an integral part of our therapeutic programs, serving as more than just transportation, but rather as trusted partners in the healing process.

Events

Throughout the year, we host a variety of events aimed at raising awareness and funds for our programs. These events range from banquets and fundraisers to horse shows and community events. By participating in these events, you can help support our mission and make a difference in the lives of individuals with special needs and disabilities.
