Poor Quality of Care
Saber Healthcare's facilities have been plagued by subpar care and treatment of patients. Saber is not the place to go. Food and medical assistance are considered unnecessary luxuries, and falsified records are used to kick out patients who don't have insurance reimbursement. Patients are left to live on the streets.
Disability Accommodation Issues
The company has been accused of denying accommodations for employees with disabilities. One employee, who underwent brain surgery, was initially denied accommodations despite doctor's recommendations. The company would only accommodate Caucasians with non-job-related injuries. After several complaints from the EEOC, the company relented, but only on the condition that the employee return to the first shift.
Lack of Compassion and Neglect
Patients have been abused, neglected, and left to die. One patient's mother passed away due to negligence at the Grey Stone Health & Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne, IN. The administrator, Eric Hunter, and Saber Healthcare failed to provide a safe and healthy environment, resulting in the patient's death.
Poor Management and Care
Facilities owned and operated by Saber Healthcare have been criticized for being poorly managed and cared for. One facility was run by Karen Brandt, who allegedly did not care about the conditions of the facility and employed staff who lacked compassion. Another facility was dirty and poorly staffed. Employees have expressed concerns about the lack of quality supplies and unrealistic patient-to-staff ratios.
