Suburban Golf Club

Suburban Golf Club, located in Union Township, New Jersey, is a non-profit private club with a rich history dating back to 1896. Our club is situated in a prime location near New York City and at the crossroads of major throughways in New Jersey, making us a convenient destination for golf enthusiasts in the tri-state area.

The course at Suburban Golf Club was designed by the renowned golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast in 1922. Over the years, the club has taken great care to preserve the integrity of the Tillinghast course, which has been protected by nature, vigilant club management, and a highly qualified golf course superintendent. In 1999, the greens were restored to their original size, bunkers were rebuilt, and new bunkers and teeing areas were strategically placed to enhance the playing experience.

A Course Steeped in History and Tradition

At Suburban Golf Club, members play a historic Par 71 course designed 100 years in the past with the latest in golf technology of today. The course record of 63 is a challenging mark for members and guests alike, and there are no tee times, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable golfing experience. Our location just 17 miles from Manhattan makes us an ideal destination for golfers in the surrounding metropolitan communities of Hoboken, Brooklyn, Jersey City, and the towns stretching west towards the Delaware river.

A Professional Staff Dedicated to Serving Members and Guests

Our professional staff, led by our Head Golf Professional, Mark McCormick, and the Head of Instruction, Paul LeJeune, is dedicated to serving the needs of our members and guests. Mark has competed in the US Open and won the New Jersey Open, while Paul has multiple New Jersey tournament wins to his credit. Together, they ensure that every golfer who sets foot on our course has the opportunity to measure themselves against a course designed by one of the great golf course architects, while being matched by the exceptional service and expertise of our professional staff.
