Southwest Rehabilitation speech therapy serving adults and children in the North Bend/Coos Bay area is a therapist-owned private practice established in 1989. Over the years, the center has grown from 50 patients per year in 1989 to over 1,500 annually, providing speech therapy services to children and adults in outpatient offices located in the areas of North Bend and Coos Bay. Our team of licensed and certified therapists offers expertise in a variety of speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders, serving patients throughout Coos County.
Our Services
At Southwest Rehabilitation, we provide a wide range of speech therapy services to both children and adults. Our services include but are not limited to articulation, motor speech, language, social skills, swallowing, and voice therapy. We understand that each patient has unique needs, and we work closely with families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to develop customized therapy plans.
Our team is trained and experienced in various specialized services, including LSVT, Lessac-Madson Resonant Voice Therapy, Vital Stim, and many others. We are committed to providing the latest evidence-based therapy techniques and staying up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in our field.
Pediatric Services
Southwest Rehabilitation offers specialized pediatric services tailored to meet the unique needs of children. We believe that early intervention is critical for optimal outcomes, and we work closely with families and caregivers to develop personalized therapy plans. Our pediatric services include articulation and phonology therapy, language therapy, social skills training, and stuttering therapy.
Adult Services
At Southwest Rehabilitation, we provide comprehensive adult speech therapy services for a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders. Our services include voice therapy, accent modification, cognitive communication therapy, and swallowing therapy. Our team is trained and experienced in providing specialized services for adults, such as LSVT for Parkinson's disease, Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) for voice disorders, and other evidence-based therapy techniques.
Additional Services
In addition to our core speech therapy services, Southwest Rehabilitation also provides specialized services such as in-services and customized therapy plans to meet the unique needs of our patients. We understand that some patients may have difficulty traveling to our offices, so we offer home health services for patients who cannot travel. We work closely with other facilities throughout Coos County, including Bay Area Hospital, Coastal Home Health, Coquille Valley Hospital, and many others.
Meet the Staff
At Southwest Rehabilitation, our team of therapists holds master's degrees, are licensed by the State of Oregon, and have received the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Our staff includes:
- Melody Sheldon, ClinScD., CCC-SLP, has over 30 years of experience in treating children and adults in various settings. She recently completed her Clinical Doctoral Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.
- Coletta Manske, M.A. CFY-SLP is our newest therapist, originally from Iowa. She earned her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Northern Iowa, and is now completing her clinical fellowship year at Southwest Rehabilitation.
