Mighty River Recycling, established in 2010, is a leading player in the recycling industry with a strong presence in the local St. Louis market and beyond. Our team brings over 100 years of combined experience, which has been instrumental in building the company from the ground up. We started as a Ferrous Trading Business in 2010 and have since expanded our services to include a wide range of recycling solutions.

Our first physical location was acquired in Madison, IL, in 2011. In 2013, we purchased a 10-acre yard in East St. Louis, IL, with Terminal Railroad Access. The following year, we acquired our corporate office in Madison, IL. In 2021, we moved our East St. Louis yard and corporate office to a larger facility in Alton, IL, spread over 40 acres with direct access to the NS and UP railroads.

Our success can be attributed to our strong consumer partnerships, particularly with Alton Steel Inc., a local SBQ mill with whom we have an exclusive arrangement. This includes steel processing capabilities and supplying all their ferrous scrap needs.

Mighty River Recycling offers a wide range of services, including Ferrous Recycling, Non-Ferrous Recycling, Rolloff Boxes, Lugger Boxes, Trailer Services, Mobile Shears, Mobile Torching, Mobile Scrap Handlers, Freight Services, Material Cleanup, Metal Processing, and Brokerage.

• Brokerage: If you need help moving your material, Mighty River Recycling is here to help. We have contacts in all 50 states and will help you get the most for your metal. Our customer-focused buyers are always ready to assist you.

• Rolling Stock: We accept a wide range of rolling stock, including tractors, roll-off and lugger box containers (all sizes), van trailers, high side/low side gondola trailers, boxes & skids, 55-gallon drums, Gaylord boxes, steel tote boxes, and self-dumping boxes.

• Full-Service Maintenance Shop: We have a full-service maintenance shop that can customize any indoor/outdoor container to store your scrap metal just the way you like it.

Materials Accepted

We accept a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including:

• Ferrous Metals: Appliances, bushling, cable/wire, fencing, cast iron, cast iron borings, clips, compressors, demolition scrap, electric motors, farm & industrial machinery, heavy cast machines, heavy melting steel, industrial scrap, machine shop turnings, motor blocks, plate & structural sheet iron, aluminum, etc.

• Non-Ferrous Metals: ACSR, brass, carbide/tool steels, catalytic converters, copper, dross & skimmings, high-temp alloys, insulated wires, lead, nickel alloys, radiators, stainless steel, tin, titanium, transmissions, zinc/die cast.

Materials Not Accepted

We do not accept cardboard, dirt, glass, plastic, porcelain, trash, wood.
