At Achieve Counseling and Educational Services, we understand the complexity of navigating through the criminal justice and/or DFPS system. Our team of experienced professionals is dedicated to providing you with the guidance and support you need to overcome the chaos and insanity of addiction. We believe that you did not choose for your life to become unmanageable and that you did not plan to lose everything that is important to you, including family and friends.

Our founder, Misty Harris, has been in the counseling field for over 15 years. Prior to becoming a counselor, Misty was an office manager and graphics designer, but she felt something was missing and decided to continue her education. Upon arriving at the college to enroll, she opened the catalogue, and the Substance Abuse/Social Work program page was the first page she opened. She felt this was a sign and jumped in. Misty was raised in the Chicago area where drug and alcohol addiction were very prevalent in her family. She completed her AA degrees at Eastfield College and is enrolled at TWU to complete her bachelor's degree. Misty's educational and career goals are to complete her master's degree as an LPC. Misty works with adults and teenagers in an outpatient setting.

Misty has worked at Nexus Recovery Center as the Housing Coordinator and Counselor for over 8 years. During this time, she was part of the Dallas PD Street Outreach Team, Children of Prisoners Task Force Member, Dallas County Homeless Coalition, and Dallas County Youth Outreach Team. Misty continues to gain certifications that will help her improve her patients' lives. Current Licenses and Certifications - LCDC, SAP, NCAC, T4C-CF, C2C-CF, LS/CMI.

Misty and Wayne have been married for 28 years with three wonderful children and two amazing grandchildren, Landon and Nevaeh. They have very different backgrounds, but their experiences have led them to create Achieve Counseling and Educational Services. Wayne Harris is currently pursuing his education to become a Substance Abuse Counselor. For 28 years, Wayne worked in the restaurant business, mostly as a bartender. As he started working with Misty, helping with her DWI Education and other classes, he realized that his experience as a bartender could bring a different perspective to the class. Currently, Wayne is licensed by the State of Texas as a DWI Education Instructor and a Drug Offender Education Program Instructor. He is also a Certified Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) facilitator and teaches Anger Management, Corrective Thinking, and Marijuana Intervention classes. Wayne has many years of experience in training and education including 8 years of classroom volunteering in public high schools. Current Licenses and Certifications - TDLR DWI Ed, TDLR DOEP, CCI-MRT.

Services Offered

At Achieve Counseling and Educational Services, we offer a wide range of services to help you navigate through the criminal justice and/or DFPS system. Our services include:

• DWI Education: We offer a 12-hour or 15-hour DWI Education Program, which is approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). This program is designed to provide education and awareness about the dangers of alcohol and drug use while driving.

• DWI Intervention (ROP): We offer a 32-hour Drug Offender Education Program (DOEP), which is approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). This program is designed for individuals who have been convicted of a drug-related offense.

• Anger Management: We offer anger management classes designed to help individuals understand and manage their anger. Our classes are tailored to meet the needs of each individual and help them develop healthy coping mechanisms.

• Corrective Thinking: We offer corrective thinking classes designed to help individuals identify and correct negative thought patterns and behaviors. Our classes are designed to help individuals develop problem-solving skills and improve their overall well-being.

• Marijuana Intervention: We offer marijuana intervention classes designed to help individuals understand the risks and consequences of marijuana use. Our classes are tailored to meet the needs of each individual and help them develop healthy coping mechanisms.

• Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT): We offer MRT classes designed to help individuals change their behavior and improve their moral reasoning. Our classes are tailored to meet the needs of each individual and help them develop healthy coping mechanisms.

• SAP Evaluations: We offer SAP evaluations designed to help individuals who have been convicted of a DWI offense. Our evaluations are tailored to meet the needs of each individual and help them understand the consequences of their actions.

• Administrative License Revocation (ALR): We offer ALR services designed to help individuals who have had their driver's license revoked due to a DWI conviction. Our services are tailored to meet the needs of each individual and help them navigate through the process of reinstating their driver's license.

• Alcohol/Drug Abuse Prevention: We offer alcohol and drug abuse prevention classes designed to help individuals understand the risks and consequences of alcohol and drug use. Our classes are tailored to meet the needs of each individual and help them develop healthy coping mechanisms.
