The New Hampshire Camp Directors Association (NHCamps) is a statewide organization dedicated to serving and promoting the educational and recreational interests of children and adults through organized camps in the state of New Hampshire. Our mission is multifaceted, encompassing advocacy, leadership, education, support, and fellowship for camps in New Hampshire and for New Hampshire camp professionals. We also provide resources for families seeking camps.
With over 100 member camps and serving over 150,000 campers, families, and staff, NHCamps is a strong voice for the camping industry in New Hampshire. Our organization is committed to promoting camps in New Hampshire and good camping practices, ensuring that camping remains a vibrant and safe experience for generations to come.
We work closely with the New Hampshire Licensing authority and other agencies, guided by a Code of Ethics, to ensure that all camps operate safely and provide a fun environment for campers. Our efforts also focus on providing professional development opportunities for camp directors and staff through annual workshops and training sessions.
As an organization, we are proud of our rich history, dating back to 1941 when we adopted our Articles of Organization. Since then, we have evolved to become a leading advocate for camping in New Hampshire, supporting over 160 licensed camps across the state. Our annual camp guide and this website serve as valuable resources for parents and camp staff, helping them navigate the options and find the perfect summer program.
Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that summer camp remains a vital part of the New Hampshire state economy, providing jobs, tourist visits, and administrative revenue, while also delivering countless safe, fun, and unforgettable summer experiences for children and adults alike.
