Messenger Valley Pharmacy

Messenger Valley Pharmacy has been serving the residents, second homeowners, and visitors to the West River Valley of southeastern Vermont since July 1, 1996. Our team is dedicated to providing the highest level of customer service and personal attention that our patients expect and deserve.

We are conveniently located at the corner of Route 35 and Peaked Mountain Road in Townshend, VT. We offer a wide range of over-the-counter healthcare items, medical supplies, gifts, cards, and health and beauty aids. Additionally, we can special-order items including durable medical equipment for our customers.

Our experienced staff of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are here to provide you with the personal service you expect and deserve. We accept most insurance plans and can fill most out-of-state prescriptions. The pharmacy is named for Eli & Dorothy Messenger, who provided the initial funding to create this full-service independent pharmacy.

Meet Our Team

Our team of dedicated professionals includes:

• Greg Dean, RPh: Greg graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy in 1981. He started working at Messenger Valley Pharmacy in 2001. He enjoys gardening and is an amateur beekeeper.
• Doug Ellis, RPh: Doug earned his Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He joined Messenger Valley Pharmacy in 2013 and is the Pharmacy Manager. Doug has an interest in genealogy.
• John Kim, PharmD, RPh: John obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from MCPHS University in Boston, MA in 2013. He joined Grace Cottage Hospital in 2014 and is the current Director of the Hospital Pharmacy. He enjoys going on spontaneous fishing adventures.
• Kayla Carey, PharmD, RPh: Kayla obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from MCPHS University in Boston, MA in 2018. She joined the Grace Cottage pharmacy staff in 2018. Kayla also works in the hospital and oversees the Anticoagulation Clinic. Kayla's favorite activities include hiking, ice skating, skiing, and reading.
• Stephen Kapral, RPh: Stephen earned his Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy degree in 1991 from the University of Wisconsin. He worked at Messenger Valley Pharmacy as a per diem pharmacist from 2008 to 2010 and now is the Senior Director of Pharmacy for GCH and MVP. He enjoys running, biking, and beach vacations with his family.

At Messenger Valley Pharmacy, we are committed to providing a wide range of services to meet the needs of our patients. These include:

• Prescriptions: Transferring your prescriptions to Messenger Valley Pharmacy is easy. Just call us at 365-4117 or stop by the pharmacy and we will do the rest. To refill a prescription, call 365-4117 and follow the prompts. We also have a Prescription Refill Policy to ensure that you receive your medication on time.
• Home Medical Supplies: Continue to take care of yourself independently with home medical supplies from Messenger Valley Pharmacy. Our great selection of home health care products includes canes, compression stockings, bath benches, walkers, nebulizers, and raised toilet seats. If an item is not in stock, it can be ordered for you at no extra charge!
• Vaccinations: Call for an appointment to have your Shingrix vaccination administered at Messenger Valley Pharmacy.
