Trauma Therapy and Animal Sanctuary for Healing
Ranch Hands Rescue was founded in 2008 with a mission to provide sanctuary for abused and neglected farm animals while offering trauma-informed counseling services for individuals suffering from severe emotional and psychological trauma. Our organization operates on the principle that healing can be achieved through the mutual bond between humans and animals, particularly for those who have not responded to traditional therapeutic approaches. Over the past decade, we have developed specialized programs such as Equine and Animal Assisted Counseling (EAAC) and EMDR therapy, serving trauma survivors including veterans, victims of sex trafficking, and individuals with complex PTSD. Our team of licensed counselors and animal care specialists works collaboratively to rehabilitate both animals and humans, integrating rescued animals into therapeutic interventions that foster trust, resilience, and recovery. We maintain a 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and operate two facilities in Texas, serving the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and beyond. Our commitment to transparency, ethical practices, and community education has established us as a trusted leader in both animal welfare and trauma recovery. Through strategic partnerships and public awareness campaigns, we continue to expand our impact, including the development of Bobs House of Hope, the nations first safe house for male sex trafficking survivors aged 18-24.

Services
Animal Sanctuary
Our animal sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates farm animals suffering from severe abuse and neglect. Specializing in critical care cases, we provide lifelong sanctuary while integrating these animals into therapeutic programs. The sanctuary serves as both a refuge for animals and a core component of our human trauma recovery initiatives through animal-assisted interventions.
Trauma Therapy
We offer specialized trauma therapy for individuals with complex PTSD, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. Our licensed counselors employ evidence-based modalities including EMDR, TF-CBT, and sensory integration therapy. Treatment focuses on rebuilding emotional resilience and addressing trauma through both traditional counseling and animal-assisted interventions.
Equine Assisted Counseling
This innovative program pairs trauma survivors with rescued equines to facilitate emotional healing. Through guided interactions with horses, clients develop trust and communication skills in a non-judgmental environment. The program is specifically designed for individuals who struggle with traditional office-based therapy settings.
Veterans PTSD Programs
Our veteran-specific programs combine animal therapy with clinical counseling to address combat-related PTSD. Services include on-site therapy sessions with rescued animals, peer support groups, and specialized interventions for moral injury and survivor's guilt. The program is developed in partnership with Texas state veterans organizations.
Safe House Shelter
Bobs House of Hope provides long-term housing and recovery support for male sex trafficking survivors aged 18-24. The program includes trauma counseling, life skills training, and animal-assisted therapy in a secure, community-based environment. This first-of-its-kind facility addresses critical gaps in services for male trafficking victims.
