Johnson Pine: Pre-Finished Eastern White Pine
At Johnson Lumber, we're proud to introduce Johnson Pine, our pre-finished Eastern White Pine product. We've developed an innovative EZ-Lock Pine System, making it fast, affordable, and simple for anyone to install pine walls or ceilings. With four easy steps, you can now enjoy the natural beauty of real wood in your home. Our pre-finished pine lumber is end-matched, ensuring a quick and effortless installation process while adding structural strength. End-matching simplifies installation by removing the need to land on a stud and locks the board on all four sides. As a result, installation is faster with minimal trimming and waste.

Our History
Johnson Lumber was founded in Carthage, New York, in 1977 by the Johnson brothers - David, Ronald, Robert, and their father Harold. The first sawmill was located on Johnny Cake road, just outside of Carthage, with one employee, producing roughly 3,000 board feet per day. Their product range included pallets and hay wagons, all made from green lumber without kilns.
In 1980, the brothers built a new mill on Route 26, increasing production to 7,000 board feet per day and employing four individuals. This land was previously owned by their grandmother, Robin Johnson.
In 1984, Johnson Log Homes was established, providing an additional outlet for their products and increasing employment at the mill and construction division.
From 1985 to 1988, the brothers ran a logging operation, supplying the mill with their logs. However, this practice was discontinued to allow better focus on their core business, the sawmill operations.
In 1987, the first dry kiln and planer were added, leading to new market opportunities. At this time, employment increased to eight people. The old mill was torn down, and kiln #2 was built on the site, accompanied by a new mill (40' x 180').
