Our Rich History

Our journey began in 1950 in a modest old New England carriage barn, where John C. Perkins Sr. laid the foundation for what would become Perkins Power Equipment. His initial focus was on the fundamental needs of equipment owners: blade sharpening and motor repairs. While his kitchen table often served as an impromptu workbench, much to his wife Evelyn's amusement, his dedication and exceptional craftsmanship quickly gained local recognition.

The business evolved organically, driven by John Sr.'s passion and the growing demand for reliable outdoor power equipment. By the mid-1950s, Perkins began selling mowers, initially representing the highly respected Toro company. As John Sr.'s dedication to customer service and providing top-tier products became well-known, his business flourished. He expanded his product lines and built a loyal clientele, setting the stage for future growth.

Passing the Torch: A Family Legacy

In 1979, John C. Perkins Sr. passed the reins to his son, John C. Perkins Jr., who continued to build upon the strong foundation his father had established. His vision extended the company's reach into southern Maine and northeastern Massachusetts, further solidifying Perkins Power Equipment's position as a trusted name in the region.

John C. Perkins Jr. continued to add prominent product lines to the dealership, keeping pace with the evolving needs of customers and the advancements in the power equipment industry.

Today, the legacy continues under the direction of Keith Perkins, John C. Perkins Sr.'s grandson. Keith, along with his father, John C. Perkins Jr., jointly manage the company, upholding the same values of customer-centric service, quality products, and a passion for powering outdoor needs.
