The Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute for Mental Health Education is a non-profit organization founded in 2000 with a mission to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and suicide. Established by Marilyn and Larry Cohen in honor of their daughter, Naomi, who lived with bipolar disorder and struggled with mental health challenges before her passing. The institute is dedicated to providing education, resources, and support to individuals and families affected by mental illness.
Our Mission
At the Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute, our mission is to create a more inclusive community by reducing the stigma associated with mental illness and suicide. We strive to provide support and resources to individuals and families struggling with a range of mental health issues, promoting advocacy and anti-discrimination. Our goal is to empower individuals and families to seek help, fostering a society where mental health is valued and respected.
Education & Training
The institute offers mental health education, training, and presentations to the greater Chicagoland community, aimed at increasing understanding and decreasing stigma connected to mental health and suicide. Our programs cater to various populations, including professionals, students, and the general public. We also provide continuing education credits (CEUs) for professionals in the field.
Coalitions & Collaborations
