Providing Precision, Quality, and Service Since 1967.
Diamond Tool and Die, Inc. is a renowned machine shop that has been serving the industry since 1967. Founded by Donald Gene Holt, the company began as a one-man job shop in Donald's home garage. Over the years, we have grown to become a leading provider of precision CNC and manual machining services, wire EDM machining, and repairs. Our commitment to quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction has made us a trusted partner for numerous clients across various industries.
Our History
In 1968, Diamond Tool and Die incorporated and moved into its new home at 508 29th Avenue, Oakland, CA. Initially, the facility was a 2,500 square foot wooden building. During the early 1970s, we played a significant role in designing and manufacturing artificial kidney dialysis machines and support equipment. Donald Holt also designed and patented his revolutionary quick change tooling system known as Inmotion, which was manufactured and sold worldwide.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, we continued to expand our product line and services. In 1976, we introduced a gas purifying product line known as LabClear and began a tooling distributing company known as The Tool Crib. By the early 1980s, we had built our first of six buildings and grown to fifteen employees. Later, in the late 1980s, we merged with another machine shop known as Apsco Manufacturing and introduced a moisture trap product line known as OxiClear.
In 1993, Donald Holt's son, Darrell Holt, and Dan Welter became President and Vice President of the Corporation, respectively. Today, we are housed in a 30,000 square foot facility with over thirty-five employees/owners and more than 75 machines on the floor, including CNC/manual Mills & Lathes; EDMs, and CMMs. We have a full-time Inspector and Chemical Engineer on site, as well as in-house Accounting, Programming, Job Costing, Quoting, Material Tracking, and Shipping and Receiving Departments.
