TAKING CARE OF THE PEOPLE YOU CARE ABOUT SINCE 1948
Colbert-Moran Funeral Home has a rich history of dedicated service to the Gretna, Virginia community. Established in 1914 by A.T. Colbert and his son, Ollie M. Colbert, the funeral home was a response to the community's need for a mortician. With a focus on serving the families of Gretna, the original building was a two-story structure that also housed a general store and gas station. Ollie M. Colbert decided to pursue embalming and, in 1915, enrolled at Renouard Embalming School in New York. By 1930, the funeral parlor had moved to the first floor of the building, and in 1948, the building was relocated to accommodate the construction of Highway 29.
In 1965, Ollie M. Colbert sold the business to Carl Moran and Jimmy Underwood, who continued the tradition of exceptional service. Under their leadership, the business grew and expanded, offering an increasing range of services to meet the needs of the community.
