The Obici House

At the Obici House, we take pride in sharing the rich history of this home and its original owners, Amedeo and Louise Obici. Nestled at the end of a tree-lined one-mile long driveway overlooking the 18th green of Sleepy Hole Golf Course on the Nansemond River, this historic property boasts original chandeliers, columns, stained glass windows, and unique hardwood floors.

We offer an exceptional venue for your private event. We can accommodate indoor events for up to 150 people, providing tables, chairs, a dance floor, and more. Alternatively, you can host a tented reception overlooking the river for up to 500 guests. Our dedicated team is ready to assist you in creating a memorable celebration at this historic venue in Hampton Roads.

Our History

The Obici House was built by Amedeo and Louise Obici. Amedeo, an Italian immigrant, was the founder of Planters peanuts. This property, with bricks dating back to the 1890s, was fully renovated to its original splendor and reopened to the public in 2012 as a premier party venue. Unforgettable weddings and parties have been hosted at the Obici House since the 1970s. The sun sets over the Nansemond river, providing a mesmerizing view. This is a perfect location for a fairy tale historic wedding that you'll never forget!
