"Faith, Friendship and Fun" - since 1952
The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit Summer Camp (MDSC) is a camp with a rich history, having provided faith, friendship, and fun to the youth and young adults of our Metropolis since 1952. For over 70 years and spanning three generations of campers, the MDSC has been located in Rose City, Michigan, approximately 3 hours north of Detroit. Nestled in the heart of the Huron National Forest, the camp is set in a beautiful and peaceful location, with three unique camp programs catering to older teens, youth entering grades 3-11, and young adults ages 19-35. The MDSC welcomes over 350 campers and over 125 staff each summer.
Our Camp Programs
The MDSC runs for 6 weeks each summer, beginning in late June. The summer begins with "Week Zero", a program specifically designed for young people entering their Senior year or their first year of college. Following Week Zero, the camp runs its regular 5 weeks of summer camp for campers entering grades 3-11. The summer concludes with the Young Adult Weekend.
*Week Zero*: This program is for those entering Grade 12 or entering College. It serves as an introduction to camp leadership and provides an opportunity for young adults to grow in their faith and develop new friendships.
*Weeks 1-5*: These programs are for Youth Entering Grades 3-11. Each week is filled with activities designed to help campers grow in their faith, make new friends, and have fun. These activities include daily worship services, Bible studies, arts and crafts, sports, and outdoor activities.
*Young Adult Weekend*: This program is for young adults ages 19-35 and serves as an opportunity for them to reconnect with their faith and make new connections with peers. The weekend includes worship services, discussions, and social activities.
