EJ Fields Machine Works

E.J. Fields Machine Works has a rich history that spans over eight decades. Established in 1934 during the Great Depression, the company was founded by E.J. Fields as a three-man operation. After moving twice, the business finally found its permanent location at the corner of Front Street and Ann Street. In 1959, Mr. Fields sold the company to his daughter and son-in-law, Marian and Richard Romaire Sr. Together with Ferris Romaire, they expanded the business over the next 43 years, developing repair processes that are still in use today. In 1995, Richard Romaire Jr. became president, bringing his innovative ideas and leadership to the company. Under his guidance, E.J. Fields Machine Works received the Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year award in 2005 and has been an active supporter of various community programs. In 2013, the company completed a 6,000 square foot expansion of the propeller shaft division to accommodate the growing needs of the marine industry.

Our Divisions

E.J. Fields Machine Works is home to three separate divisions, each staffed with skilled employees and equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. Our divisions include:

• *Fabrication Division*: Our fabrication shop is available for all your welding and fabrication needs. With a 24-hour call-out service, seven days a week, we can handle any project, no matter how big or small. Our services include fabricating and repairing foil and traditional style rudders, stern, rudder, and strut tube fabrication, winch repair, brake band relining, marine specialty parts fabrication, single and multibolt manhole assemblies, plate rolling and braking, Becker style rudder repair, and in-blade rudder shaft straightening.

• *Propeller Shaft Division*: Our propeller shaft division specializes in propeller shafting and steering system fabrication and repair. We are ABS certified for under minimum repair of ABS Grade II steel shafting and USCG certified and ABS certified for repair of Aquamet and Aqualoy 17, 18, and 22 stainless steel shafting. Our expertise and experience allow us to assist customers from the design phase through the installation of our products.

• *Small Parts Division*: Our small parts division is dedicated to producing high-quality precision parts for a wide range of applications. We use the latest CNC machines and metrology equipment to ensure that every part we manufacture meets our stringent quality standards.

Our Facilities

Our facilities span over 50,000 square feet of enclosed workspace, with six locations across the area. Each division has its own dedicated workspace, equipped with the latest machinery and technology. Our facilities are designed to handle large-scale projects while maintaining the highest level of quality control.
