HOPE Equestrian Center is a nonprofit organization based in the Rogue Valley, serving special needs individuals throughout southern Oregon. Established in 1988, the center is dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding services that enable individuals with physical, emotional, and learning disabilities to accomplish goals beyond their initial expectations. The center's mission is to create an environment of adventure, freedom, responsibility, dignity, and excitement for riders, volunteers, parents, and instructors alike. Therapeutic Horseback Riding Services

At the core of HOPE Equestrian Center's services is therapeutic horseback riding. This unique form of therapy allows individuals with disabilities to conquer new challenges and reap numerous rewards in a safe and nurturing setting. The gentle and rhythmic movement of the horse promotes significant improvements in riders' flexibility, muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, and motor development.

For those with mental or emotional disabilities, the extraordinary bond formed with a horse can lead to boosts in confidence, patience, self-esteem, emotional well-being, and socialization. The sense of independence instilled in riders translates to personal growth and accomplishment, both on and off the horse.

HOPE Equestrian Center offers classes for riders of all ages and ability levels, with both group and private lessons available. The center's experienced instructors and staff collaborate with doctors, therapists, teachers, and parents to design individualized lesson plans tailored to the specific needs and goals of each rider. Adopting a Horse

An alternative way to support HOPE Equestrian Center is by adopting a horse. For $300 a month or $3,600 a year, sponsors can help provide the essential care and resources required to maintain the well-being of the center's horses. In exchange for their generosity, sponsors receive regular updates and photos of their adopted horse, enabling them to form a special connection with the animal while making a meaningful contribution to the center's mission.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers play a crucial role at HOPE Equestrian Center. The center recruits and relies on the support of over 50 dedicated volunteers who contribute their time and energy in various capacities. Volunteers work alongside instructors and horses, assisting riders, and playing an integral part in special events and administrative tasks. The center's community-based board of directors comprises professionals from diverse fields, including veterinary medicine, therapy, education, ranching, and local businesses. These individuals help guide the organization and ensure its ongoing success.
