Our journey began with a single collection of manuals accumulated by our founder, Alex, over the years. With a background in engineering and a career spanning from a mechanic to working at a dealership and eventually, becoming an Automotive Design Engineer at a leading automotive manufacturer in Detroit, Alex built an extensive collection of manuals.
The Birth of Books4Cars.com
As the manual collection grew, and sales grew alongside, Alex decided to take a break from his engineering career to focus on the book sales business. This marked the beginning of Books4Cars.com in March 1997. Over the years, the business flourished, and the collection expanded to over 60,000 automotive books, covering a wide range of topics, from classic cars to modern vehicles, motorcycles, and even truck repair manuals.

In 2001, Alex relocated the business to the Columbia City Historic Business District in Seattle, WA. This vibrant community of small businesses and art galleries offered a perfect environment for Books4Cars.com to thrive. As the business continued to grow, so did our team, with new members joining and contributing to the ever-expanding collection.
