Transforming Lives Through Medical Equipment Reuse
At Project MEND, we believe that mobility and independence are basic human rights. For over 30 years, our mission has been to improve the quality of life for individuals living with disabilities and illness through the refurbishment, reuse, and distribution of medical equipment and other assistive technology.
Our Story
Founded in 1992 by Murlin Johnson, Project MEND (Medical Equipment Network for those with Disabilities) has been providing for the home medical equipment and assistive technology needs of persons with disabilities in San Antonio and around Texas. Seeing the need and the solution, our innovative medical equipment reuse program was born. Today, we are proud to have refurbished and distributed over 5,681 pieces of medical equipment, helping over 1,864 clients, and keeping 120 tons of equipment out of landfills.
Our Services
By refurbishing used medical equipment, Project MEND helps people of all ages living with a disability or other mobility issues get the right tools to better access the world around them. We offer a wide range of services, including wheelchairs, walkers with wheels, shower chairs, power chairs, hospital beds, Hoyer lifts, rollators, commode scooters, trapezes, and tub transfer benches. Our team of experts works tirelessly to ensure that every piece of equipment is professionally sanitized and refurbished to meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Our Impact
For 30 years, Project MEND has provided medical equipment for the community's most vulnerable people. We have helped thousands of individuals in need acquire the right tools to overcome or better manage a disability. Our annual growth is a testament to our commitment to improving the quality of life for individuals living with disabilities or life-altering illness.
Our Team
Our team is comprised of dedicated professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. From our leadership team to our program staff, we are committed to providing innovative solutions that assist in overcoming obstacles and barriers.
