Lake Charles Dance Academy

Lake Charles Dance Academy was founded by Colleen Cannon Benoit in 2011, after years of teaching, performing, and training in classical ballet. Colleen's extensive background includes studying nationally and receiving scholarships to renowned institutions such as the School of American Ballet, the North Carolina School of the Arts, and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. She has performed lead roles in full-length ballets and with professional companies like The Dallas Ballet and The Texas Ballet. Colleen's goal is to bring back performance opportunities for local dancers, sharing her love and skill as a performing artist.

Colleen's educational background is equally impressive, with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's degree in Educational Technology. She has been a second and third-grade teacher, a TAP Mentor, and a Master teacher, earning several awards including "Nelson Teacher of the Year, " "Calcasieu Parish Teacher of the Year, " and "Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year." Her love for educating students, whether in school or in dance, drives her motivation.
