Acres Away Winery is a thriving winery located in the heart of Ashley, Indiana, established in 2018. We take pride in our thoughtful winemaking approach, using locally grown grapes, including those from our very own 5-acre estate vineyard, to craft exceptional wines and ciders. Our team, led by owner Shane Christ and winemaker Kirk Etheridge, boasts a combined 30 years of experience in the Indiana wine industry.

Shane Christ, a seasoned winemaker, began his winemaking journey at the age of 22 in one of Indiana's first wineries. Having spent over two decades at Satek Winery in Fremont, Indiana, Shane has become a respected figure in the Midwest wine scene. He has been instrumental in mentoring numerous up-and-coming winemakers and grape growers in the region. Shane's commitment to the Indiana wine industry and northeast Indiana extends beyond his role at Acres Away Winery through his community service, volunteer work, and tourism efforts.

Our winemaking process is one of gentleness and responsiveness, incorporating minimal intervention. We start by sourcing exceptional fruit from trusted local growers, allowing the wine to unfold naturally over time. Our handcrafted approach includes careful whole-cluster fermentations, hand punchdowns, and classic aging techniques. The result is a true representation of the character of the wine, showcasing both Indiana's charm and distinct taste.
