The concept of Xenia originates from ancient Greece, where it was believed that treating strangers with hospitality was essential to avoid angering possible gods in disguise. Our company's name is a nod to this rich tradition of generosity and courtesy, reflecting our commitment to providing exceptional service to our guests.

Meet Our Executive Officers

Marcel Verbaas, Chair & CEO

Marcel Verbaas is our Chair and Chief Executive Officer. With over two decades of industry experience, Mr. Verbaas has a proven track record of success in the hospitality sector. Previously, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer with Xenia or its affiliated entities from 2007 until November 2017.

Barry Bloom, Ph. D., President and Chief Operating Officer

Barry Bloom, Ph. D. is our President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Bloom has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with a background in hotel operations, finance, and development. He has held various senior leadership positions, including Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer with Xenia or its affiliated entities from July 2013 until November 2017.
